Application

Entanglement has switched over to a dressing room format for now, so applications aren't needed for the time being.

FANDOM CHARACTER APPLICATION:

ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATION:

Whichever application you're posting, please put the character's name, if they're an OC, and their fandom (if any) in the subject line.

Note again that you are allowed to use musebox posts and posts on [livejournal.com profile] testrun_box for your sample. In that case, your total amount of tags written will be added up, so the initial post can be shorter than normal for a sample. You're still required to use a prose format and set the sample in the game universe though.

Character's Name: Lucy/Nyu
Character's Fandom: Elfen Leid
Character's Home Universe:
Major points can be found here: http://manga.wikia.com/wiki/Diclonius
Physical Appearance: http://elfen-lied.wikia.com/wiki/Lucy
Personality:
Due to her background as a Diclonius and her tortured childhood, Lucy has somewhat of a warped view of the world and human beings. She spent most of her youth in an orphanage, due to having killed her own parent's at the age of 3, where she was tormented by other children for her horns. The orphanages' staff even ridiculed her, avoid contact with her because she “wasn't human”. Making matters worse, Lucy found a puppy during her stay and told the one girl she considered a friend about it. This led to the girl telling the boys who made fun of her about the dog, the boys then proceeded to kill the animal. This caused Lucy to release her Vectors for the first time killing the boys. From that moment forward,Lucy developed an intense dislike of human beings and saw nothing wrong with killing them if the need arose. The exception to this came in the form of a boy named Kouta, who was the only person who really formed a real bond with Lucy, playing with her for a few days before leaving to go home, but not before saying he was going to visit his cousin at a local festival. Kouta lied that his cousin was male, in an effort to keep Lucy from becoming sad, this little lie had horrible consequences as Lucy ended up seeing Kouta at the festival and, enraged at seeing Kouta with another girl, began killing anyone within reach of her Vectors. In this we see, that Lucy has serious problems dealing with anger or disappointment and lashes out at others to the face of such emotions, the differences being, that unlike normal people, Lucy is capable of causing great loss of life with her fits. This moment also sealed Lucy's hatred of human beings, she began seeing them as untrustworthy and two faced and not accepting of her kind. She resolved to replace human beings with her own kind via her powers as a way of dealing with this “problem”. The only person Lucy ever felt bad for hurting was Kouta, to whom she promised she would apologize to someday for the pain she caused him.

As an adult, Lucy became able to mildly control herself, no longer lashing out at random human beings and killing only when her life was actually in danger. She still lacks remorse for her violent pass, with the obvious exception of Kohta, with whom she finally apologizes to after living with him for a period of time. Her relationship with Kouta seems to be the one thing that keeps her grounded, as thoughts of hurting him again are often enough for her to call off an attack or revert to her Nyu personality. All of this combined seemed to point to Lucy being in love with Kouta but her violent past and Diclonius nature prevent the two from really being together.

It is very notable, that after escaping from confinement at the Diclonious research facility, Lucy hit her head and developed a secondary more innocent personality, that Kohta named Nyu, as that was the only sound she was able to make after he found her. Nyu is a simple person, speaking little English and having no idea about how the world around her works. She tends to make fast friends with people around her and is generally liked by everyone around her. Nyu is also very affectionate, often in inappropriate circumstances such as asking Kohta to cuddle with her after he found her alone in the wood, after she who run away from home in her Lucy personality and had reverted to Nyu with out having a clue where she is. She also groped Kohta's cousin Yuka's breasts on random occasions, though no real reason was given for the act. Finally, switching between her Nyu and Lucy personalities often involves one of two circumstances, either falling on her head somehow or experiencing a deep trauma such as seeing one of her friends under attack.

Abilities and Skills:
As a Diclonious, Lucy has access to the use of her Vectors, a set of invisible arms that she can manipulate with her mind. These strange limbs can be manipulated as weapons by vibrating them as a frequency at which they can cut through human flesh and bone. The Vectors are also the means by which Diclonious “reproduce” as they infect human males with a virus that causes any offspring they may produce to be born as Silpelit Diclonious, beings sometime referred to as “workers” that are weaker then “pure” Diclonious and exist only to infect others with the virus. Silpelit Diclonious are sterile while Lucy herself is apparently capable of giving birth as a normal human being would and as a result could theoretically produce more “pure” Diclonious if she ever tried to.

Sample:
Lucy roamed the halls of the station direction less and despondent, her eyes perpetually glued to the barren floor. This place had been filled with humans to, she thought, and from what she gathered from the chatter around her, many worlds beyond this and her own were as well. It was enough drive the young Diclonious to her usual unhappy place and the idea that she was destined to be isolated and mistreated by those around her. She wondered if she would have to carry out the mission she had set forth for herself in her youth, “I could infect every male in this place within in a week”, she murmured to herself, inaudible to those around her. With that vile thought in her mind, Lucy continues dragging herself forward with no real goal or destination in mind, until, without warning, a woman emerges from the side hall way, looking over documents of some kind she is equally unaware of Lucy as the Diclonious was of her. The pair quickly meet path, as the woman knocks Lucy to the ground, causing a look of fury to emerge in her eyes.

On edge because of the environment around her and feelings dug deep into her psyche, the minor infraction causes Lucy's Vectors to spring forth. The phantom hands lashed out at the innocent by standard with surgical precision , overlaying themselves with the woman's brain, with a mere thought she could rend the woman to pieces as she had so many times, leaving the hall splattered with blood and severed body parts. No one would be able to trace the killing, it would look like a freak accident. But, after a moment the ghostly hands withdrew from the woman's head, leaving her safe from any harm they may have inflicted on her. Unaware of her own brush with death, the woman continues to yell at the floor bound Lucy, shouting insults against her intelligence, among other things. Yet, Lucy offers no response, she didn't think such a loud person deserved any response, instead opting to spring to her feet and slowly shuffle past the human beside her.

Lucy knew the woman had done nothing to harm her. It would be best to reserve any acts of aggression for the soldiers and scientists who had followed her since her youth, she thought. That was perhaps the only positive aspect of being flung into this dank, sterile, place, no one was chasing her anymore, no one knew what a Diclonious was for that matter either. For the time being, Lucy would be allowed a degree of anonymity, a happy coincidence she is more then willing to enjoy until the moment that someone becomes wise to her nature. Then, she thought to herself, she might have to go on the run again. But to where, she was not certain...

Lucy roamed the halls of the station direction less and despondent, her eyes perpetually glued to the barren floor. From what she gathered, this place, and worlds beyond, were filled with humans like those found on earth. This fact drove the young Diclonious to her usual unhappy place and with it, the idea that she was destined to be isolated and mistreated by those around her. She wondered if she would have to carry out the mission she had set forth for herself in her youth. “I could infect every male in this place within in a week”, she murmured to herself, inaudible to those around her. Looking over documents of some kind, she was equally unaware of Lucy as the Diclonious was of her. The pair quickly crossed paths, resulting in the woman knocking Lucy to the ground and causing a look of fury to emerge within the Diclonious girl's eyes.

On edge because of the environment around her and having reignited dark memories of the past, the minor infraction caused Lucy's Vectors to spring forth. The phantom hands lashed out at the innocent woman with almost surgical precision , quickly overlaying themselves with the woman's brain. Lucy knew that with a mere thought she could rend the woman to pieces, leaving the hall splattered with blood and severed body parts. Unaware of her own brush with death, the woman continued to yell at the floor bound Lucy, shouting insults against her intelligence among other things. Lucy simply ignored the woman's comments and walked past her without speaking a word.

Lucy knew the woman had done nothing to harm her and imagined it would be best to reserve any acts of aggression for the soldiers and scientists who had followed her since her youth. As she recalled the horrors of her past, a thought occurred in Lucy's mind. Perhaps there was a positive aspect of having been flung into this place and far from those who sought to do her harm. Then, flexing her new found anonymity, Lucy quickly disappeared into the deep recesses of the station, a look of of mild relief on her face.
