Application
Entanglement has switched over to a dressing room format for now, so applications aren't needed for the time being.
FANDOM CHARACTER APPLICATION:
ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATION:
Whichever application you're posting, please put the character's name, if they're an OC, and their fandom (if any) in the subject line.
Note again that you are allowed to use musebox posts and posts on
testrun_box for your sample. In that case, your total amount of tags written will be added up, so the initial post can be shorter than normal for a sample. You're still required to use a prose format and set the sample in the game universe though.

Character:
Character's Name: Yuri Lowell
Character's Fandom: Tales of Vesperia
Character's Home Universe: Sparsely populated, relatively low-tech world with lots of dangerous monsters. Most people live in settlements protected by barrier blastia (”http://aselia.wikia.com/wiki/Blastia”) and rarely leave the town they were born in. There is an Empire which attempts to enforce itself through various means, chiefly the Imperial Knights, and there are also the Guilds, who consider themselves outside of the Empire's jurisdiction. Clashes between the Imperial Knights and the Guilds happen rather frequently.
Physical Appearance: Yuri is 5'11 and slender, with dark hair to midback, an almost pasty complexion, and somewhat feminine features. He looks more or less his age (21) although he has from time to time been mistaken for a tall woman, but the issue is generally resolved once he says something. He is a compulsive sleeve-roller and generally tends to look rumpled, but in an intentional “Yes I know my shirt is unfastened, deal with it” sort of way rather than looking like he just rolled out of bed.

Abilities and Skills: Yuri is a somewhat better than competent swordsman, who through a combination of flashy gymnastics and using all four of his limbs has managed to put together a fighting style that nicely makes up for whatever disadvantage he might have due to a lack of skill. He also has a bodhi-blastia in the form of a somewhat ornamental gold cuff on his left wrist that makes him a bit faster, stronger, and more durable than the average human, in addition to letting him do simple spell techniques. He is ambidextrous, tending to favour his left hand.
Even for his world, Yuri is poorly educated and knows it. This does not particularly bother him, since he considers the skills he does have to be just as useful, if not moreso than any kind of book-learning he has come across. He's been proven wrong about this several times, but stubbornly insists that even if it is more useful, he himself is not smart enough to make proper use of it and should stick to what he's good at, IE hitting things. Give him a book, and he will probably look at you funny. Try to explain something complicated to him, and he will either tune you out and walk away or interrupt you to explain that he doesn't really care how it works, as long as it does and somebody understands it. He can read and write in his homeworld language, do simple arithmetic, and cook good (if not always pretty) food, with proper supplies. He's not as stupid as he thinks he is-- he's a quick thinker, learns quickly when he thinks something is relevant, is fairly good at reading people and situations and at using both to his advantage, and usually has the good sense not to touch something if he doesn't know what it is. He is also able to use tech even when he doesn't understand it, assuming that someone gives him very clear directions on what to do with it (ie, “press this button when the light flashes”, “pull the pin and throw toward the enemy”, etc) and would probably make a decent go-fer assistant for someone who needs an extra set of hands and to get things off high shelves, and doesn't mind putting up with Yuri's inability to keep his mouth shut for any extended period of time.

For instance, the food. Yuri had managed to choke down enough brick-crumbs to keep hunger at bay, but this stuff would put Flynn's overseasoning to shame. If this was what everybody was eating, he seriously feared for the future of whatever it was that these people were doing.
“Still,” he muttered aloud. “I suppose if you were to deep fry it might not be so bad...” Deep-frying required fat. He'd seen a dubiously-labelled can of cooking fat in the kitchen, sniffed it, and decided not to bother. Worst came to worst, he might be able to find something useful in the “habitats” he'd heard mentioned. “Looks like it's time to go hunting...”
