Application

Entanglement has switched over to a dressing room format for now, so applications aren't needed for the time being.

FANDOM CHARACTER APPLICATION:

ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATION:

Whichever application you're posting, please put the character's name, if they're an OC, and their fandom (if any) in the subject line.

Note again that you are allowed to use musebox posts and posts on [livejournal.com profile] testrun_box for your sample. In that case, your total amount of tags written will be added up, so the initial post can be shorter than normal for a sample. You're still required to use a prose format and set the sample in the game universe though.

Dr. Louie Nichols 1/3

Mun:

Your Name: Tolarin (or James. You choose)
Your Journal: http://tolarin.livejournal.com
Your Email: tolarin_skylar@hotmail.com
Your AIM: Tolarin

Character:

Character's Name: Dr. Louie Nichols, UEEF Lt. Commander
Character's Fandom: Robotech, Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles
Character's Home Universe: Serving with the United Earth Expeditionary Forces, in orbit of Earth, in the year 2044. A hero of the Robotech Wars, a series of wars taking place throughout the galaxy against various alien forces over a mythical pseudo-magical power source known as Protoculture.
Character's History:
Louie Nichols was a Corporal in the Armies of the Southern Cross during the conflict with the Robotech Masters that began in 2029 in Earth space. He served as a field mechanical and Robotech engineer with the 15 ATAC Squadron. (A Veritech Hovertank Platoon.) After the arrival of the Invid in 2031, Corporal Nichols was vital in the rebuilding of Col. Jonathan Wolfe’s starship and allowing the survivors of the ASC to make it to the planet-moon of Tirol to join Admiral Rick Hunter and the United Earth Expeditionary Forces.

In 2044, he returned with Captain Vince Grant and the UES Icarus to help with the SDF-4 Liberator’s mission to free Earth from the alien Invid. However, in the aftermath of the final battle, it was discovered that their newest technology, based upon the Haydonite theory of Shadow Dimensional physics, was bobby trapped.

Dr. Nichols was working with the UEEF on a new fold-booster for the Alpha series of Veritech fighters when a mis-fold occurred and brought him to the Senburu-Trati'salan.

Physical Appearance: Tall and lanky, with pasty white skin, messy brown hair that likely hasn’t seen a comb in ages, and a pair of Robotechnology-based goggles that he is never seen without. He still wears his grey and black jumpsuit with the white overcoat that signifies his as a member of the UEEF’s diplomatic science division. While nearly 35 years old, he has maintained a rather youthful look and sound to him. Most likely a by-product of his apparent innocence.

Personality: (at least two paragraphs) Doctor Nichols, next to the famous Doctor Lang himself, is likely among the elite of scientist in the field of Robotechnology. Unfortunately, this is about all Louie knows of in life. He is the ultimate nerd, knowledgeable in nearly any scientific field, yet completely socially awkward. It is said by many that even aliens have a better comprehension of human emotion than he does. It is also said that he likely loves his mecha and machines more than people.

Yet, for all his social retardedness, Louie is still a kind-hearted man. Louie was at first distraught at the use of his pupil pistol (an eye movement recognition and targeting software) being used as a military weapon instead of the video game software he engineered, he later came to peace with it as he discovered it saved countless lives. Louie joined the Science Diplomat Corp to help ensure that Robotechnology would be used to better all the life forms in the galaxy. He keeps an open mind over every alien race he meets and tries to see a bright side to every situation he comes across.

Recently, he has tried to curb his tech-speak as much as he can, and earnest has tried to become more social towards his peers. This natural nerdy charm has begun to earn him the respect among his peers in the UEEF. It will be determined if the same fate follows him in the Hub Universe.

Abilities and Skills: Louie is a genius in Robotechnology with specialties in dimensional physics, fold space operation, and Robotechnology that could easily be converted to standard mechanical technology. This also givers him a limited knowledge in biotech. (As Protoculture, the power source of Robotechnology, is a bio-energy source.)

Upon arrival, he caries a basic fully charged, un-used Mars Gallant, CVR armor, and a VF/A-6H EWAR Alpha. However, while the Alpha still has all sixteen Protoculture cells in tact, the aerospace Veritech Fighter was unarmed due to the nature of his experiment. It also lacks the typical Cyclone Dive Armor that is prevalent in most Alphas.

Sample:
“Doctor Nichols, the furnaces are up and running and we are ready to fold anytime you are ready,” the pleasant voice spoke from his cockpit computer.

“Thanks Eve,” he said, his voice almost cracking there for a moment. He was glad Doctor Lang gave him the source code to his AI for his Alpha… but the pop girl voices Lang chose always confused him and made him just a tad uncomfortable.

Far beyond Earth space, the newly reclaimed homeworld appearing to look only like a marble at his distance, Doctor Louie Nichols sat in the cockpit of his Alpha. Attached to the Veritech Fighter was a larger transforming piece of Robotechnology, a Shadow Beta. However, the beta had been stripped of its weapons and its main hull opened up to showcase a new miniaturized fold-sphere generator.

He had explained it to General Reinhart and Captain Grant rather simply. While the protoculture intake would be high, a commodity the UEEF didn’t currently have, the ability to mass-produce miniaturized space fold generators to small vessels would enable the UEEF to widen the search grid for the missing SDF-3 and its Protoculture Matrix.

All that needed to be done was to test the drive. If they succeeded, he was confident they could use the technology to find the SDF-3 and the source of modern Protoculture.

“Do you have the coordinates, Eve?” he asked his Alpha.

“Already covered, Doctor,” she easily responded, “Ready when you are…”

Once more, she caught Doctor Nichols off guard, “Ah…. Well, uh… Space Station Liberty! This is Lt. Commander Louie Nichols. We are now executing Shadow Dimensional Space Fold!”

“Engaging, Doctor Nichols,” Eve tacked on as the Alpha-Beta came to life, a hum being the signs heard through the cockpit.

“Eve, you don’t engage a fold sphe--” he was cut off as the space around him began to shift into a brilliant display of light and color. The fold had begun… and then…

His Alpha combo rattled as space undulated around him. Eve reported, “Doctor, a strange irregularity has formed in the shadow dimensional field. It is shifting into an unforeseen quantum signature.”

Quickly, the Robotech genius began to input commands into the computer, “Eve, begin defold.”

“Doctor,” she said with alarm in her voice, “The Beta Fold Drive is overloading. It’s going to explode!”

“Prepare to detach Beta. As soon as we defold, we’re punching it.”
The bright orb that was the fold sphere shined brilliantly then faded away to find the Alpha in deep space with her fold booster arcing red lightning that signaled the overload of Shadow Dimensional technology. The Alpha detached itself from the larger Beta unit and quickly lit up its afterburners.

An orb of crimson red erupted from the Beta, reaching out at the Alpha unit. However, the nimble Veritech fighter was able to escape the dimensional destruction by the skin of its teeth. As the explosions began to fade, Louie focused his eyes upon what laid before him.

Strung up like clothesline between two small sphere was a menagerie of objects that seemed to make up some sort of space station. The fighter’s AI spoke, “Woah, Doc. I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore…”

“Eve, we never were in Kansas… but I know what you mean,” he said, in a mix of fear and awe as the damaged Alpha began to limp its way to the station.
