Application

Entanglement has switched over to a dressing room format for now, so applications aren't needed for the time being.

FANDOM CHARACTER APPLICATION:

ORIGINAL CHARACTER APPLICATION:

Whichever application you're posting, please put the character's name, if they're an OC, and their fandom (if any) in the subject line.

Note again that you are allowed to use musebox posts and posts on [livejournal.com profile] testrun_box for your sample. In that case, your total amount of tags written will be added up, so the initial post can be shorter than normal for a sample. You're still required to use a prose format and set the sample in the game universe though.

Abilities and Skills: XP is a robot made in eerily spot-on likeness of a regular human. Just from looking at her you would never be able to tell that her skin was a synthetic and only a single layer, and under it was cold unattractive metal (or gel, in the case of her breasts) and under that were enough wires to make a rope from one American State to another.

Despite her dense personality, she is capable of making calculations and whatnot much faster than a human, and has multiple USB ports in her neck, hidden by her hair. Her systems are highly compatible with programs in her universe and beyond thanks to the gaping holes in her security, and can wirelessly connect to any computer or device similar. Doing so with a computer would give her access to any information stored on it if it was written in a language her systems are capable of understanding along with any programs inside, letting her operate any machine as long as it has an advanced enough computer control system.

Her Hard Drive, however, is limited, her previous owner only upgrading her to a Terabyte before upgrading to a newer model, and her RAM only three gigs, so the information she can store is limited and her reaction speed is only slightly higher than an average 21st century human's, and it can lower rapidly depending on how many programs she is running at once or files she is accessing.

Her most notable feature is the ability to eat organic food and process it into electricity, letting her work without having to plug herself in, although she can do that as well. This was marketed as a money saving feature, but many consumers found themselves paying more for food than they would have just plugging her in. How this feature actually works is a trade Windows secret, and attempting to find out by dissecting your XP will cause your unit to self-destruct.

Sample: The day started like any other day. With the sound of a piano rousing her awake. It took a few seconds longer to be ready for use, clocked at 15 even. A small .txt file was made and filed away as a reminder to defrag and ask one of the crew members for another new stick of RAM, her natural processes coupled with new programs from the other universes was taking up a lot of memory, and left her unable to eat an entire pudding cup at her usual speed.

Just as she began to think about pudding and stretched her artificial muscles out for maximum efficiency, something seemed off. It felt like there were eyes all around her, yet as far as she could tell she was all alone. Maybe some alien was camouflaged?

“Hello? Is anyone there?”

There was no response. Her optics rapidly scanned the room as she slowly began to back out. Her desperate search around the quarters she had shut down in the night before had begun to take up too much processor power, so she carelessly took some from her balance sensors, causing her to stumble out of the room. As she hit the floor, the realization hit her like a DDoS attack. The eyes weren't all around her, they were inside her. She was haunted! Possessed! Hacked!

Logic circuits briefly shut down as she rose to her feet and thus the only reaction she could determine was to run at full speed down the hall screaming, as if removing herself from the start of the hacking would make it go away. She ran for what felt like days through the halls, all the while the eyes inside her stared unrelentingly at her every process. She had no privacy, she felt completely invaded. It was like a key logging program of massive proportions was running in her and no matter how many times she mentally ctrl+alt+deleted, she couldn't find it.

As she turned a corner, she was stopped by the strong arm of a technician who had been monitoring the sector's artificial gravity before he was rudely interrupted by the shrieking machine.

“Hold it there, artificial lady. What seems to be the problem?”

“I've been hacked! Keylogged! There are eyes everywhere in the background, monitoring everything I do!”

The large man stared at her for a second before adjusting his hat over his eyes, perhaps in shame or perhaps so the robot wouldn't notice his fixation on her synthetic mammaries.

“You sure you didn't just notice your daemons running?”

All non-essential processes stopped in the girl as she considered this. She looked like she'd been told 2+2 was four after spending an hour convinced it was fish.

“oh... I guess you're right. Thanks!” Without another word, XP began skipping down the hall, musing to herself about what to have for breakfast. She was really hungry after that morning run.

The technician just began to wish he was had taken that job as a Powermaster in the Primax Cluster as he got back to work.
