Personality: Yuri has a deep-seated grudge against nobles and almost anyone richer than he is (which is almost everyone), and his snobbish hotheaded snarkiness about it can make him very difficult to deal with at times. His brief stint in the Imperial Knights gave him an equally deep-seated grudge against the Empire and authority in general. He is brash, sarcastic and cynical, unwilling (or unable) to show any sort of social graces, and tends to be grumpy when faced with annoying problems like saving people. Yuri does not suffer fools, he makes fools suffer, and if it weren't for his own (often reckless) heroic impulses, would fit perfectly into the stereotype of jaded anti-hero. He considers heroics in general to be stupid, and sees his own inability to stand by when people are in trouble as proof of his own stupidity. He likes a challenge though, and will often excuse his actions by saying that he wanted to fight that bad guy anyway, and the fact that he saved people by doing so was irrelevant. Lately he's been finding that saving the world makes him more of a hero in most people's eyes than he's comfortable with, so he's been off-loading much his fame onto his best friend Flynn, figuring that a member of the Imperial Knights should be used to such things. His loyalties are ultimately to himself and the people he considers to be under his protection, a group which seems to be expanding at an alarming rate. His fee for this loyalty is making witty (read sarcastic) remarks and the right to tease his companions mercilessly.

Abilities and Skills: Yuri is a somewhat better than competent swordsman, who through a combination of flashy gymnastics and using all four of his limbs has managed to put together a fighting style that nicely makes up for whatever disadvantage he might have due to a lack of skill. He also has a bodhi-blastia in the form of a somewhat ornamental gold cuff on his left wrist that makes him a bit faster, stronger, and more durable than the average human, in addition to letting him do simple spell techniques. He is ambidextrous, tending to favour his left hand.

Even for his world, Yuri is poorly educated and knows it. This does not particularly bother him, since he considers the skills he does have to be just as useful, if not moreso than any kind of book-learning he has come across. He's been proven wrong about this several times, but stubbornly insists that even if it is more useful, he himself is not smart enough to make proper use of it and should stick to what he's good at, IE hitting things. Give him a book, and he will probably look at you funny. Try to explain something complicated to him, and he will either tune you out and walk away or interrupt you to explain that he doesn't really care how it works, as long as it does and somebody understands it. He can read and write in his homeworld language, do simple arithmetic, and cook good (if not always pretty) food, with proper supplies. He's not as stupid as he thinks he is-- he's a quick thinker, learns quickly when he thinks something is relevant, is fairly good at reading people and situations and at using both to his advantage, and usually has the good sense not to touch something if he doesn't know what it is. He is also able to use tech even when he doesn't understand it, assuming that someone gives him very clear directions on what to do with it (ie, “press this button when the light flashes”, “pull the pin and throw toward the enemy”, etc) and would probably make a decent go-fer assistant for someone who needs an extra set of hands and to get things off high shelves, and doesn't mind putting up with Yuri's inability to keep his mouth shut for any extended period of time.
