Character History: A native of Radiant Gardens, Cloud escaped it's destruction along with Leon and the others. However, instead of winding up in Traverse Town he woke up in the Coliseum where he quickly learned to fight due to the numerous tournaments of the world. He was soon noticed by Hades, who used the young man's desire to protect his friends and eventually return to his home world as a way to draw him to the darkness.
Cloud accepted, and after a meteoric rise through the series of tournaments attempted to use his newfound power to leave the world. It backfired and he fell in to a deep sleep, it was during this time that he fought against the darkness within him. When he awoke, Cloud found himself years older and deep inside the Underworld with a single demonic wing protruding from his left shoulder and little memory of what had happened. He quickly dressed himself in what was nearest and proceeded to fight his way out of the Underworld with a clawed glove and old wrapped sword he found in a small room.

After his second confrontation with Sephiroth, Cloud once again donned the crimson cloak and claws from the Coliseum and prepared to search the worlds for the embodiment of the darkness he cast away. It is during this time that he is contacted by a Recruiter.
